Congress Refunds

We have nearly finished processing all of the refunds following the cancellation of the Congress. The last few will be completed by 7th February but may take a few days longer to reach the relevant account. Thank you for bearing with us.

Congress Legacy

While we were not able to meet in Glasgow, we have created a Legacy Webpage to share as much as possible from the exciting programme we developed.

Many of our workshop leaders have agreed to offer an online event in March or April. Booking details for the workshops are available on the Legacy Webpage.

Authors with papers or posters accepted for the programme can submit a short video of their paper, a PDF of a poster and/or an updated abstract via this submission page. The deadline to upload your submission has been extended to 15th February. Full details of how to submit can be found on the Legacy Webpage along with instructions on how to create an MP4 video with PowerPoint. Do not miss out on this great opportunity to showcase your work and share it with our whole community!

Details of how to access this legacy programme will be on the Legacy Webpage as soon as we have finished processing all the submissions.

Congress Cancellation Message from EAWOP President

Covid Information

Welcome

It is with great regret that we must announce that EAWOP 2022 Congress in Glasgow has had to be cancelled.

We have listened carefully to our delegates and speakers, we have looked at government advice and recognise that as a result of the Omicron variant, there are new and serious implications for travel, but far more importantly, there are potentially very serious implications for the health and wellbeing of participants if the congress goes ahead.
We know that there was huge appetite for a face-to-face event. Over 1300 people have registered and we are sorry to disappoint those who had enthusiastically invested in their submissions and were looking forward to the event. We waited as long as we could in the hope that the situation would improve and allow us to go ahead but it is clear that this is not possible.

Please accept our heartfelt apology that under current circumstances and despite every effort we are no longer able to safely deliver what we believe would have been an exceptional event.

We would like to thank all the people who worked so hard to create an exciting and inspiring congress. This includes our invited speakers and workshop leaders who had put so much into making the EAWOP 2022 programme so stimulating, all those who submitted papers to the event and the many reviewers who helped with decision making. We also thank our sponsors, including the City of Glasgow and the volunteer and professional organisers as well as the staff of the British Psychological Society for the long hours spent developing the congress.

Please bear with us while we work through the practical implications that need to be addressed following this decision. The first of these is that in early January we will be reimbursing all registration payments, including for those of you who cancelled your registration in advance of this notice. If you booked a 3-day registration, you will be aware that your registration included your EAWOP membership fee until May 2023. We are looking into providing an option to request a
partial refund so that you can maintain your membership status.

If you booked your accommodation through our hotel reservation link you can cancel your booking at no cost. We will be writing to everyone who registered with more information once it is available.

Please keep safe in these difficult times and we sincerely hope that the world situation will have changed sufficiently that we will be able to meet up in Katowice in May 2023 where our next congress is scheduled to run.

EAWOP Virtual Conference 2021

Viral Strain? Working life in the COVID pandemic – 27 May 2021

In addition to EAWOP 2022 in Glasgow in January 2022, EAWOP is organising a virtual conference which will focus on the impact the pandemic has had on our lives and the profound changes it has made to the way we work.

In what ways has the virus strained working life and how has it forced workplaces to change for the better?

The aim of this one day conference, organised in collaboration with the British Psychological Society, is to invite leading scholars and practitioners from across the world to provide their insights – derived from research and practice – on how the COVID pandemic has reshaped working lives, the impact of these changes on employees, and how organisations can respond productively to the challenges presented by the pandemic.

The event will be open to all and free for EAWOP members with discounted rates for BPS DOP members.
